A Russian émigré, he served an advisor to Golda Meir on the Russian immigration. He moved to Africa for business and his company LIAT owned the only bus in Freetown. Shabtai vanished from London in the 1980’s but resurfaced in Israel to face trial for espionage. He was accused for being the mastermind of an African KGB station. He spent years in an Israeli prison and was then repatriated to Russia.
Shande: A diamond trader who flirted with the corrupt elite of Africa, he also collaborated with the IPE a defense organization made up of former Mossad members who were later implicated in the Iran Contra affair. A KGB officer with a slush his other boss was not in Moscow but rather Brighton Beach godfather Marat Balagua while Kalmanovich was busy guaranteeing security to Sierra Leone’s President. It’s rumored he passed Pollard’s stolen secrets on the the KGB and he was later involved in a scheme with mobsters to defraud Merrill Lynch.
